The Kansas high school students who wrote an expose that forced their principal to resign are headed to Washington.
The Huffington Post on Wednesday announced that six student journalists and a teacher from Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, Kan., will be the organization's guests at this year's annual White House Correspondents Dinner.
The invitation was confirmed in a tweet by Huffington Post associate politics editor Sam Levine.
They won't be the only students at the event. CNN announced in February that it would be inviting journalism students to the dinner as a way to show commitment to the "health" of a free press.
Proceeds from the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner go to $100,000 in scholarships, the group says.
President Trump is skipping this year’s dinner, the first time since 1981 that the sitting president will not attend.
